Large Roofs
Wind pressures acting are typically poorly correlated at points separated by large distances over large roofs due to the highly fluctuating nature of the wind, producing highly fluctuating load effects. The challenge facing the design engineer is to determine the sets of instantaneous wind loads that will cause the largest load effects for the various structural elements.

By combining simultaneous wind tunnel measurements with structural influence coefficients provided by the structural engineer, peak load effects, such as axial force and bending moment, can be identified for main structural members.
